Stride es una manera de ejecutar el piano, que se originó en Harlem por el 1919 por este tipo y otro llamado Luckey Roberts. La principal influencia de este estilo es el ragtime, al que le suma mas improvisación, blue notes y swing.
Con la mano izquierda se toca un pulso de cuatro tiempos con una nota del bajo en el 1er y el 3er tiempo, y un acorde en el 2do y 4to, mientas la melo la toca la mano derecha, si, una boludez.
Se le dice "stride" por "striding" que significa avanzar a grandes pasos, la misma sensación que transmite el movimiento de la mano izquierda.
James P. Johson era el maestro de Fats Waller, de echo el tema que dejé para que escuchen (Honeysuckle Rose) es un tema recontraconocido de su alumno.
